Dance Video Archives - Welcome

Dance Video Archives

The dance video archive displays videos of dances from the member organizations of the Country Dance and Song Society (CDSS). They are intended as a resource for learning and preserving this wonderful heritage.

Sadly, the creator of this resource, Bob Green, has passed away. There will be no further updates until someone else chooses to take over this site. If interested, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Bob has left behind 461 dance videos on His YouTube Page. In most of them you can hear the calls, as well as see the action.

The usefulness of this site will depend largely on the level of participation of the the whole traditional dance community. People dance for many reasons and have different interpretations of how dances are done. Where videos of different variants of a dance are available, they will be posted. The broader the sources of editorial and technical information, the more useful the site is likely to be. It is also certain that it will contain errors from time to time, and the accuracy of the site will be greatly improved if these are pointed out and corrections suggested. It is not the intention of this site to be an authority on any of the dances, but rather a repository for some of the material available.

Currently, this site is being hosted as a sub-domain of childgrove.org, the website for the Childgrove Country Dancers in St. Louis.

Looking For Volunteers

We are seeking vounteers to maintain this resource to the community. To record, edit, annotate, and post dance videos and links.

If you would be interested in being an editor for this site, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
